outdoors\u00a0<br><\/strong>Today, many people want to go outdoors.<br>Outdoors can be\u00a0<strong>nature<\/strong>, a\u00a0<strong>park<\/strong>, a\u00a0<strong>garden<\/strong>\u00a0or even the\u00a0city.<br>You can spend your free time outdoors alone\u00a0or together with other people.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>People have always wanted to be outdoors.<br>You can also see this in\u00a0<strong>design<\/strong>.<br>Design is\u00a0<strong>art for our everyday lives<\/strong>.<br>Objects that are designed for indoors and outdoors\u00a0show <br>that we want to be outdoors.\u00a0<br>For example, objects that are portable or that you can fold.<br>Designers also often take\u00a0<strong>nature<\/strong>\u00a0as an\u00a0<strong>example<\/strong>\u00a0for design.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>The whole exhibition is made of\u00a0<strong>material<\/strong>\u00a0that is\u00a0<strong>recycled<\/strong>\u00a0and that you can\u00a0<strong>reuse<\/strong>.<br>Recycled means: <br>We made something new from old materials.<br>A footbridge leads you through this exhibition.<br>It is also made from recycled and reusable material.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>The objects in the exhibition show\u00a0that\u00a0<strong>design<\/strong>\u00a0always\u00a0<strong>depends<\/strong>\u00a0<br>on different things.<br>It depends on the time when it is created and on\u00a0society.<br>Let us take plastic as an example:\u00a0\u00a0In the past, it was very popular.\u00a0<br>Today, it is a problem for the environment.\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>The exhibition wants you to think about these questions:\u00a0<br>What do people do in nature?<br>For example: People go on holiday or do sports in nature.\u00a0<br>How do we connect\u00a0<strong>private spaces\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>public spaces<\/strong>?<br>For example: Because of COVID,\u00a0private meetings take place in public parks.\u00a0<br>How do we want to treat the environment in the future?\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br><strong>Outdoors and indoors<\/strong><br>Designers often take\u00a0<strong>nature<\/strong>\u00a0as an\u00a0<strong>example<\/strong>.\u2028<br>They also did so in the middle of the last century: <br>They looked at the shapes that you find in nature and they took these shapes\u00a0indoors.\u2028<br>They worked together with an Italian company called Gufram.\u2028<br>The designers often used a special style called \u2028<strong>Pop Art<\/strong>.\u2028<br>Pop Art connects art and everyday life.\u2028<br>Pop is short for \u201cpopular\u201d.\u2028 It means that many people like something.\u2028\u2028<br>With Pop Art, the designers wanted to make design fun and playful.<br>They often used\u00a0<strong>plastic<\/strong>.\u2028<br>With plastic, they could produce many\u00a0new shapes.<br>They created a big plastic plant, for example.<br><br>This way, the designers showed \u2028how much they liked the new material plastic.\u2028 They also showed that society is always changing.<br><br><strong>Sitting outdoors<br><\/strong>A\u00a0<strong>garden<\/strong>\u00a0is closely linked to the history of chairs. <br>100 years ago, most\u00a0<strong>garden chairs<\/strong>\u00a0were made of iron or wood.<br>Today, most garden chairs are made of plastic.<br>Plastic is a cheap material that comes in bright colours.\u2028<br>You can use plastic for many different things.\u2028<br>For example, you can create round shapes with plastic.\u2028<br><br>In the middle of the last century, many people were interested in space travel.\u2028The\u00a0<strong>round shape<\/strong>\u00a0is closely linked to space travel, <br>because the capsules of spaceships are round.\u2028<br>Space travel stands for the future and for dreaming. <br>And so do round objects \u2028like a plastic garden chair with a round shape.\u2028<br>Today, we want\u00a0furniture\u00a0that can go indoors and outdoors.\u2028<br>And we want\u00a0sustainable\u00a0furniture.\u2028<br>Sustainable means: The furniture lasts for a long time and we need little raw materials when we produce it.\u2028<br>Raw materials are wood or oil, for example.\u2028\u2028<br><br><strong>Camping in East Germany<\/strong><br>In the past, Germany was split into 2 countries.\u2028<br>West Germany and\u00a0<strong>East Germany.<\/strong>\u2028<br>East Germany was also called German Democratic Republic.\u2028<br>It was an independent country for 40 years.\u2028<br>But since more than 30 years, Germany is 1 country again.\u2028<br>People in East Germany \u2028were not allowed to travel to many countries.\u2028<br>They especially liked\u00a0<strong>camping<\/strong>:\u2028 They often slept in tents during their holidays. <br>Camping shows what we long for: \u2028<strong>nature<\/strong>, <strong>holidays<\/strong>, <strong>freedom<\/strong>\u00a0and making our own decisions.\u2028<br>The objects you use for camping are very\u00a0<strong>handy<\/strong>.\u2028<br>You can fold them and stack them.\u2028<br>They are also light and stable.\u2028<br>This is still important for camping objects today.<br><br><strong>Moving around in the city<\/strong><br>The way we move around in the city changes a lot. <br>Today, 2 things are very important:\u2028<br>1.\u00a0 Many people share vehicles with others.\u2028<br>2. More and more vehicles move with electricity, <br>    not with petrol or diesel.\u2028\u2028<br><br>In this exhibition, you will see different ways to move around: \u2028skateboards, scooters and different bikes.<br>Today, there are more and more \u2028electric bikes and electric scooters. \u2028<strong>Electric<\/strong>\u00a0means that they move with electricity.\u2028<br>You will find them at many places around Munich. <br>Renting them is quick and easy.\u2028<br>This way, many people can use the electric bikes and scooters.\u2028<br>\u2028<br>But there are also\u00a0problems\u00a0with these new inventions.\u2028<br>They can be bad for the environment:\u2028<br>When we produce them, we need many\u00a0<strong>raw materials<\/strong>.\u2028<br>Raw materials are wood or oil, for example.\u2028<br>It can also be difficult to\u00a0get rid\u00a0of old vehicles.\u2028\u2028<br><br><strong>Doing sports outdoors<\/strong><br>In our museum, there is equipment for\u00a0<strong>summer sports<\/strong>\u00a0<br>and for<strong>\u00a0winter sports,<\/strong>\u2028 like water sports or mountain climbing.<br><br>People also do sports in the\u00a0<strong>Alps<\/strong>.\u2028<br>The Alps are very high mountains in several countries. <br>In the Alps, people enjoy doing sports like climbing, sledging, skiing and kayaking.\u2028<br>A kayak is a boat.\u2028\u2028<br><br>Many things are\u00a0<strong>changing<\/strong> \u2028when it comes to sports and\u00a0<strong>sport equipment<\/strong>.\u2028<br>For example, there are objects now that are easy to transport.\u2028<br>Like skis that you can fold or kayaks that you can take to pieces.\u2028\u2028 Today, it is also important that the equipment is\u00a0<strong>sustainable<\/strong>.\u2028 Sustainable means:<br>The equipment lasts for a long time.\u2028<br>We produce it close to where we live.\u2028<br>We need little raw materials when we produce it. <br>Raw materials are wood or oil, for example.\u2028\u2028<br><br>Sports show that we want to be in nature.\u2028<br>But it can be bad for the environment and for nature if too many people want to go outdoors.<br>\u00a0<br><strong>The park and the pandemic<\/strong><br>We have to keep a\u00a0<strong>distance<\/strong>\u00a0to other people \u2028because <br>of the COVID-19 pandemic.\u2028<br>Pandemic means: <br>A very contagious disease spreads around the whole world.\u2028<br>In\u00a0<strong>parks<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>green spaces<\/strong>, it is easy to keep a distance.\u2028<br>This is why parks are very popular now.\u2028<br><br>People found new ideas to answer these questions:\u2028<br>\u2022 How can we meet other people and be safe?<br>\u2028\u2022 How can we keep a distance to each other?\u2028<br>\u2022 How can we keep parks clean?<br><br><strong>Windy sky<\/strong><br><strong>Colours<\/strong>\u00a0are very important in design.\u2028<br>They were also important to 2 designers\u2028 called <br>Otl Aicher and Eberhard Stau\u00df.\u2028<br>Around 40 years ago,\u2028 they picked the colours for the airport in Munich. <br>They thought of the colours of nature in Upper Bavaria.\u2028\u2028<br>The 2 designers called one of the main colours <strong>light airport blue.<\/strong>\u2028<br>It is a bright colour.\u2028<br>When the designers created this colour,\u2028<br>they thought of the light in the Pre-Alps.\u2028<br>They especially thought of the\u00a0<strong>colour of the sky<\/strong>\u00a0when there is a wind called\u00a0<strong>foehn<\/strong>.\u2028<br>Foehn is a dry and warm wind from the Alps.\u2028<br>When there is foehn, you have a clear view of the mountains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<section class='wp-block-ho-pattern ' data-pattern='ho\/zwei-bilder'>\n\n<div  class='container-fluid margin-bottom-7'>\n\n<div  class='row pattern-two-images-align-bottom'>\n\n<div  class='col col-xs-6'>\n\n<div  class='flex-align-bottom-center sizes-height-fill'><figure itemscope itemtype=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\" class=\"lazy-media-inline \" role=\"group\" aria-describedby=\"media_69e52d18368ed\">\n<div class=\"height-container \" style=\"padding-bottom:133.28318916886%;
